Māris Gailis

Māris served as the Prime Minister of Latvia between 1994 and 1995. Following his tenure as Prime Minister, he undertook the reconstruction of Ķipsala together with his wife Zaiga Gaile.
Reinventing Ķīpsala
When Māris and his wife Zaiga speak about their views of urban development and architecture, you'll often hear them coin the phrase building on the past. Their work feels fresh and modern, yet at the same time it is rooted in a sense that it has grown out of a location's original integrity. And, this shows in the work they have been doing in Ķīpsala.
