Juris is a chaplain at St. Saviour's Anglican Church in Rīga and a docent in theology at the University of Latvia. Over a 17 year period, Juris led a team of 22 theologians and translators to create a new translation of the Bible in Latvian. Before joining St. Saviour's Anglican Church, Juris served congregations in Britian, the Caribbean, the United States and Canada. Apart from being a brilliant academic and rivetting orator, he's also an avid football player.
Public Controversies
Juris was one of the first spiritual leaders in Latvia to express his support of same-sex marriage. Tensions between LELC officals and Juris intensified when he allowed the Pride Festival's service to take place at St. Saviour's Anglican Church. It was however Juris' interfaith outreach work and his participation in a ceremony led by Sun Myung Moon, which led to his exclusion from LELC.
Protestant Landscape of Rīga
